For this week, I refined my inspiration to focus on optimism being a certain set of attitudes, rather than a set of circumstances. This idea led me to create silhouettes with attitude and drama.

Ruffles of various lengths were explored to add energy, depth, and texture to my designs. The second sample shows rose style ruffles that were cut on bias to keep the rough edges, but to prevent fraying. Also, to convey a sense of attitude, I explored honeycomb smocking towards the end of my process. The first sample shows a small amount of hand smocking.

Also, I added print iterations to my process. Many of the motifs were hand drawn and put together in Adobe Illustrator. I followed the advice I received from Sara last week and added basic prints like stripes and dots. Additionally, I explored using paillette sequins on fabrics and strategically into my print designs. Also, I experimented with layering motifs in various ways.
